In this application, the VE810 is used for stainless-steel receptacle plate engraving with circuit and panel information. Permanent engraved identification helps electricians and facility personnel quickly determine which electrical panel and breaker controls a specific outlet.

Receptacle Plate Engraving with Precision, Built for Production.
For this demonstration, we used a .015″ SSS cutter and engraved to a total depth of .010″. Seven passes were used to help extend cutter life while producing a smoother, cleaner engraving. Fewer passes can be used when appropriate, but may result in a rougher finish and increased tool wear.
Lubricant (we used a vegetable oil based lubricant) is not required, but is recommended for this application to help improve cutting performance and extend tool life.
A custom fixture securely holds the receptacle plate to the VE810’s t-slot table, providing consistent positioning and repeatable results.
For production work, proper work holding is an
important part of achieving reliable receptacle plate engraving results.
The collet spindle securely holds the cutter and helps minimize vibration during the engraving process. Less vibration can contribute to smoother engraving and longer tool life.
